Strawberry French Toast

This dish is a great addition to a brunch, and very convenient because you can make it ahead of time. The fresh fruit topping makes it extra tasty, and very attractive to serve!

Ingredients
  • 1 loaf French bread (18–inches long)
  • 4 eggs
  • 1 cup milk
  • ¼ cup sugar
  • ¼ teaspoon salt
  • ¼ teaspoon cinnamon
  • 2 tablespoons butter, melted
  • 18 oz. container spreadable plain or fruit–flavoured cream cheese

Topping

  • 3 cups fresh strawberries
  • ¼ cup sugar
  • 2 tablespoons amaretto (optional)
  • 1 cup fresh blueberries or raspberries
Directions
  • Cut loaf into 24 ¾ inch slices.
  • Spread bread with cream cheese, and put together like sandwiches.
  • Place in greased 9″x 13″ pan.
  • Beat eggs. Add milk, sugar, salt, and cinnamon. Pour egg mixture over sandwiches in baking dish.
  • Let stand at room temperature for 5 minutes.
  • Turn sandwiches over. Cover and refrigerate 8 hours or overnight.
  • Heat oven to 400℉.
  • Uncover baking dish. Drizzle sandwiches with melted butter.
  • Bake until golden brown, 25—30 minutes.
  • Slice remaining strawberries and add blue/raspberries and strawberries to strawberry mixture. Spoon over top of baked toast before serving.
