The Golden Russet is an apple that had fallen out of favour for a number of years, and had virtually disappeared from most Ontario orchards. But it has made a tremendous comeback and is gaining popularity with today’s generation. Its distinctive rough, rusty skin with gold undertones makes it impossible to miss. The drier flesh has a delightfully nutty and pear–like flavour. It is an excellent apple for eating fresh, cooking, stewing, and making cider.
